Brandon Scott, M.A.
Graduate Student
Research Interest
Brandon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in August 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. The following semester he began graduate work at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX and earned a Master of Arts degree in Psychology (Clinical Track) in May of 2008. During his master’s level graduate training, he had the opportunity to teach undergraduate psychology courses in Behavioral Self-Management and Introduction to Psychology and served as Vice President of GRE/Graduate School Preparation for the SFASU Psi Chi chapter. He also worked at the Nacogdoches Boys Ranch, a local residential treatment facility, which provides 24-hour services for boys with a history of sexual, physical, or mental abuse.
Brandon’s clinical experience at the Nacogdoches Boys Ranch and thesis research on the cognitive and behavioral effects of guilt-induction, led him to further pursue the study of emotional and behavioral processes of youth with internalizing problems. He entered the Applied Developmental program at the University of New Orleans in August 2008 and is currently in his fourth year working with Dr. Carl Weems in the Youth and Family Stress, Phobia, and Anxiety Research Lab. His current research interests focus on understanding the role of emotion regulatory processes (i.e., cognitive, behavioral, and physiological) and perceptions of emotional control in youth with internalizing and externalizing problems.
