Katie Lawing, B.A. Graduate Student Biography Katie Lawing graduated with honors from Georgia State University in 2006.During college she worked with at-risk youth in a detention center while working with an onsite psychologist. She later taught children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders at The Marcus Institute in Atlanta, GA. There, she used Applied Behavior Analysis to teach language and sign language to young children in the Language and Learning Center. After college she moved to NYC to teach adults with developmental disabilities as a Behavioral Specialist. Katie is in her first year at the University of New Orleans and her research interests include mother's perceptual biases of their children's emotions and the effects of coercive parenting on children's internalizing and externalizing problems. She is an interviewer and camera person for observational interviews for Dr. Scaramella's study. She also trains new staff and interns for interviewing and filming.
