Participant Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is MAPS?

The goal of our project is to look at how mothers' and children's relationships change over time. We would like to better understand how children's relationships at home with their brothers and sisters affect their behavior at school, like Head Start. By being a part of our team, you can make this happen!

2. What do I have to do?

We will visit your home once a year for the next 3 years.

3. What happens during a visit?

You and your children will play games. We will videotape you playing with your children. You will answer some questions about you and your children.

4. How long will each visit take?

Each visit lastas about 2 and a half hours.

5. Will I be paid for my time?

YES! You will be paid $75 after each visit ($225 in total). Your children will receive small toys at the end of each visit.

6. Can I be a part of MAPS?

We need moms with a Head Start child and a child between the ages of 16-27 months.

7. What can I expect?

Before each visit we will call you and tell you what will happen during that visit. We will also send you newsletters during the year just to keep in touch with you!
