Psychological Services Clinic

The Psychological Services Clinic in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Orleans offers a childhood phobia and anxiety disorders assessment service under the direction of Carl Weems . This service offers a state of the art assessment of a child’s psychological functioning provided on a sliding fee scale.

The service may be ideal for parents who have questions about their children’s behavior or emotions, individuals whose insurance does not cover assessment procedures, whose benefits are exhausted, or individuals who have a limited ability to pay for mental health assessment. Referrals to the service may be made by parents and mental health professionals who desire a comprehensive assessment for their children/clients.

Appointments are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings Monday through Friday. Interested families should contact the program at (504) 280-7132 for a brochure, free phone screening, or to schedule an appointment.

A comprehensive assessment battery is administered to all children referred to the program. A major purpose of the assessment is to determine the precise nature of the child's problems and to determine the most appropriate intervention. Following completion of the assessment, referral to appropriate intervention services can be provided for those interested. Treatment services are also available.
